It’s 10:00PM, it’s freezing cold, and I’m at the nearest lake with nothing but my smart phone. Any person would think I’m insane for being out here, but fellow Pokemon fans know that I’m not THAT crazy. I’m just trying to catch a Goldeen.

Pokémon Go finally released on the App Store and it’s every bit of addicting as you expected it to be. You start by having a starter be given to you as practice for catching it with Pokéballs. Which is surprisingly easy. It’s just simple flick of the finger. After that and a few words of wisdom from the Professor, you’re off!

As I walked out of my home. I immediately just started wandering around to see what I could find. My eyes staring intently at my phone slowly trying to understand what exactly is happening, when I saw a rustle of grass on the screen located on what would be the end of my street in real life. It didn’t take me long before I found a wild Doduo walking around my neighborhood, I slowly make my way to the end of my street and when it was in my sights on the phone itself I was able to tap it and into the catch screen. Once again very simple. There is no battling whatsoever when it comes to catching. It’s all about the flick of the finger. You must have decent accuracy to be able to get the mon you want. There are two circles on the screen itself. A grayed out which looks to be the basic way of capturing and a smaller green circle that looks to give you a boost in the catch rate. Needless to say it’s not all that exciting but still a fun way to catch Pokémon nonetheless.

In one day I was able to find Krabby, Weedle, Rattatta, Pincer and even a Bulbasaur. The level up and evolve system requires you to catch multiple of each Pokémon as they give you specific candy for each monster. I couldn’t help but capture as many Weedle as possible to transfer them into Weedle candy and be able to evolve in into Kakuna.

Capturing isn’t the only thing that’s possible to do on Go. Gym’s are also a present. They way it works is that you are in a team with other players and the goal is to take control of a gym and battle other players for dominance. It’s a familiar yet fun way for some team based combat so be sure to level up your Pokémon to its Max level.

So far for the first few days Pokémon Go is everything it promised. It’s an way to have you leave your house and explore the world of Pokémon around you. Im hoping to take advantage of his to be able to go on daily walks and maybe even become more healthier and give myself a reason to enjoy the sights around town again. If you haven’t checked it out I highly recommend it. It’ll give you the opportunity to be the best, like no one ever was.
